چکیده

The research presented by the authors in this paper focused on understanding behavior of mercury during coal combustion and flue gas purification operations. goal was to determine temperature emissions limits for lignites energy sector. examined process sorption from gases using fine-grained organic materials. main objectives study were recommend a low-cost adsorbent such as coke dust (CD), corn straw char (CS-400), brominated (CS-400-Br), rubber (RC-600) or granulated (GRC-600) efficiently substitute expensive dust-sized activated carbon. covered lignite Polish field. experiment conducted at temperatures reflecting conditions inside installation. One tested sorbents—tire-derived that obtained pyrolysis—exhibited good potential Hg0 into Hg2+ oxidation, resulting enhanced removal flue. characterization increased elevated bromine content (mercury oxidizing agent) comparison other selected adsorbents. This presents results laboratory tests 95, 125, 155 185 °C. average 465 μg·kg−1. concentration emitted atmosphere 17.8 µg·m−3. analyzed five sorbents with achieved efficiency 18.3% 96.1% depending temperature.

Development of silica/vanadia/titania catalysts for removal of elemental mercury from coal-combustion flue gas.

SiO2/V2O5/TiO2 catalysts were synthesized for removing elemental mercury (Hg0) from simulated coal-combustion flue gas. Experiments were carried out in fixed-bed reactors using both pellet and powder catalysts. In contrast to the SiO2-TiO2 composites developed in previous studies, the V2O5 based catalysts do not need ultraviolet light activation and have higher Hg0 oxidation efficiencies. For H...

Enhanced elemental mercury removal from coal-fired flue gas by sulfur-chlorine compounds.

Oxidation of Hg(0) with any oxidant or converting itto a particle-bound form can facilitate its removal. Two sulfur-chlorine compounds, sulfur dichloride (SCl2) and sulfur monochloride (S2Cl2), were investigated as oxidants for Hg(0) by gas-phase reaction and by surface-involved reactions in the presence of flyash or activated carbon. The gas-phase reaction between Hg(0) and SCl2 is shown to be...

The thief process for mercury removal from flue gas.

The Thief Process is a cost-effective variation to activated carbon injection (ACI) for removal of mercury from flue gas. In this scheme, partially combusted coal from the furnace of a pulverized coal power generation plant is extracted by a lance and then re-injected into the ductwork downstream of the air preheater. Recent results on a 500-lb/h pilot-scale combustion facility show similar rem...
